London based beatmakers Finn Casey and Thomas L are the faces behind Silk 86, a production duo bringing a warm and rich sound that re-invigorates the aesthetics of classic house with dynamic results.
After bursting onto the scene in 2013 with much lauded records dropping on Mannuci’s Mistress and Sneaky Music, the boys started this year with a Janet Jackson bootleg and a slew of unreleased material that received Radio 1 airplay from the likes of George Fitzgerald, B-Traits and Rob Da Bank.
Resolutely incorporating their eclectic musical backgrounds into their output, Silk 86 show a penchant for smooth basslines, hypnotic synths, and crisp percussive cuts, highlighting a production prestige and confidence that outweighs their years.
Mixtapes for the likes of Eastern Electrics festival have further showcased their talents and abilities, highlighting an appreciation for the classics alongside the more cutting edge sounds of today.
With a new EP coming soon via Andre Crom’s OffSpin Recordings, and their 1Trax release currently climbing specialist dance charts, it seems that 2014 looks to have Silk 86 firmly in the record bags of connoisseurs and music fans alike.
